Budget Golf Buddy Trip Destinations: 5 Places With Real Posted Package Prices

golfgolf tripbuddy golf tripguys golf tripgolf packagesstay and playbudget golf

Short answer: If you're looking for golf buddy trip destinations a group of guys can actually afford, here are five US spots where a resort or package seller posts a dollar figure you can book against:

  • Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Alabama. The Trail's own fall 2026 special starts at $115 per person, per day for one round with a cart. That's golf only, no lodging. Tour Guide Golf posts stay-and-play packages from $162 to $337 per person, per day.
  • Treetops Resort, Gaylord, Michigan. Golftoberfest is from $330 per person, double occupancy, for 2 nights and 3 rounds (fall 2026). The 5-3-1 package is listed from $465 per person for 3 nights and 5 rounds.
  • Wisconsin Dells area. Chula Vista Resort's fall package starts at $100 per person for 1 night and 1 round. A listing for Lake Wisconsin Country Club's stay, play, and dine package starts at $190 per person.
  • Thousand Hills, Branson, Missouri. $249 per night plus tax for a 3-bedroom condo with golf for four players, based on a 3-night stay.
  • Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. The Reunion Resort Villas' Stay 'n' Play Diamond Package is $799 for two people: 2 nights and 1 round each.

We didn't rank these. There's no national average for a buddy trip, and we won't make one up. These are the prices each seller posted when we checked on October 3, 2026, with what each package includes and leaves out. Prices change, availability isn't promised, and nothing here is a quote.

Myrtle Beach, Pinehurst, and Bandon Dunes are separate trips with their own cost breakdowns, so they're not on this list. For the planning side (dates, headcount, who books), see how to plan a guys golf weekend.

How to read these prices

These packages use three different units, so read the unit before you compare.

  • Per person, double occupancy. Two golfers share a room, and each one pays the listed price. Treetops, Chula Vista, and most of the Alabama packages work this way.
  • Per unit, per night. Thousand Hills prices a whole condo per night, and the package covers four players. That's a per-condo price, not a per-golfer price.
  • Per package for two. The Reunion package covers two people. For four golfers, you'd be looking at two packages, if the property will book them together.

Several of these prices start with "from" or "starting at." That's the lowest rate, usually for the cheapest room on the cheapest dates. Your dates may cost more.

Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Alabama

The RTJ Trail is a set of public courses spread across Alabama, at sites including Capitol Hill near Montgomery, Grand National in Opelika, Hampton Cove in Huntsville, Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Oxmoor Valley and Ross Bridge near Birmingham, and The Shoals. For a group, there are two ways to pay: golf-only specials from the Trail itself, or a stay-and-play package from a tour operator.

The Trail's own 2026 fall specials (golf only)

The RTJ Golf Trail's fall packages page lists these specials for September 8, 2026 to November 15, 2026:

SpecialWhat you getPosted price
2 Days or MoreOne round per day, two or more days, cart and unlimited range ballsFrom $115 per person, per day ($190 at Ross Bridge, $215 at Lakewood Club)
Fall UnlimitedUnlimited golf with cart and range ballsFrom $155 per person, per day ($275 at Ross Bridge; $345 at Lakewood Club, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays only)
Fall SwingOne round at Magnolia Grove plus one at Lakewood Club, with carts and range balls$295 per person
Fall MagicOne round at Oxmoor Valley plus one at Ross Bridge, with carts and range balls$280 per person

The fine print from the same page:

  • No tax and no lodging. The page says specials don't include either.
  • Judge surcharge. Each round on the Judge course at Capitol Hill costs an extra $15.
  • Payment and booking. Specials must be paid in full and booked with RTJ Reservations at least 48 hours before you play.
  • Excluded courses. The Back Yard at Oxmoor Valley isn't included in any of these specials. Lakewood Club and Ross Bridge are excluded too, unless a special names them.
  • No stacking. Specials can't be combined with Trail Card or membership discounts.
  • Range closures. Driving ranges close for at least part of every Tuesday.

Stay-and-play packages from Tour Guide Golf

Tour Guide Golf's Alabama page lists RTJ packages with lodging. Every price is per person, per day, based on two golfers sharing a room. The page shows no year or season for these prices, except the Grand National package, which says its sample price is "based on off-season travel."

PackageLodgingGolf listedPosted price

Ross Bridge3 nights, Renaissance Ross Bridge ResortFour courses, including a 36-hole day at Oxmoor Valley, with cartFrom $337 per person, per day

The Capitol Hill, Hampton Cove, Grand National, and Mobile packages say a daily resort fee and package fees are included. The page doesn't say how many "days" a package bills (a 3-night trip could be 3 days or 4), so we won't turn these into trip totals. Ask for a quote on your dates.

Treetops Resort, Gaylord, Michigan

Treetops is a five-course resort in Gaylord, in northern Michigan. The courses are the Masterpiece, Premier, Signature, and Tradition, plus Threetops, a par-3 course. It posts two packages that work for a group.

Golftoberfest (fall 2026)

  • Price: from $330 per person, double occupancy.
  • When: the page says the offer runs "September 20 through Close of Season 2026."
  • Includes: 2 nights in a standard room, 3 rounds per person on your choice of courses, and one bucket of seasonal craft beer per room. Nine holes on the Tradition or Threetops counts as one round.
  • Catches: it must be booked directly with the resort, and it can't be combined with group rates or other promotions. Only one beer bucket comes per room, even if you put more than two people in it. The page doesn't mention tax.

5-3-1 package

  • Price: Treetops' own page doesn't show a price; it says to contact reservations. GolfMichigan's listing for Treetops shows from $465 per person, double occupancy, expiring 12/31/2026.
  • Includes: 3 nights in a standard hotel room and 5 rounds, one on each course (Premier, Tradition, Signature, Masterpiece, and Threetops).
  • Fine print (resort page): taxes and resort fees are included in the starting price. You get no refunds for unused rounds or nights, and you can't combine it with group rates.

The same GolfMichigan listing shows a one-night, one-round Traditional package from $107 per person and a Premier package from $117 per person, both expiring 12/31/2026.

Wisconsin Dells area

Several golf packages in and around the Dells post a price.

Chula Vista Resort and Cold Water Canyon

Two pages give two different prices, so here are both:

  • The resort's own page: the Fall Stay & Play Golf Package starts at $100 per person, for stays September 7 to November 1, 2026. It includes one night in select room styles plus 18 holes with a GPS cart at Cold Water Canyon Golf Course.
  • GolfTrips listing: the Midweek Unlimited Stay & Play package runs $99 to $129 per person, valid through 12/31/26. It includes one 18-hole round with cart per person, a hotel room on Sunday through Thursday nights, and water park passes for registered guests. The listing says packages are limited per day and the resort may require a minimum stay.

Lake Wisconsin Country Club

A GolfTrips listing for Lake Wisconsin Country Club shows a Stay, Play and Dine package from $190 per person, for 1 night and 1 round, valid through 12/31/26. It includes 18 holes with cart, a night at the Cedarberry Inn, and a meal at Green Acres restaurant, which the listing calls "the place for steaks." Reservations go through the club's golf shop.

Kalahari and Trappers Turn

A GolfWisconsin listing shows a Kalahari Resorts stay-and-play package starting at $250, for 1 night and 1 round, valid through 12/31/26. It includes one room or suite, two 18-hole vouchers with cart at Trappers Turn, and water park admission. The listing doesn't say whether $250 is per person or per room. Since it includes two golf vouchers, ask before you assume it covers two golfers.

Thousand Hills, Branson, Missouri

Thousand Hills prices by the condo, not by the golfer. Its two pages describe the same package (code FB18GP) a little differently:

  • Branson Golf Package page: $249 per night plus tax, "based on 3 night stay." It covers 4 days and 3 nights in a 3-bedroom, 3-bath golf condo, with "4 Players - Unlimited Golf With Cart During Stay."
  • Package Specials page: the same $249 per night plus tax for 3 nights in a 3-bedroom, 3-bath condo, but it says "4 Players – 18 Holes of Golf With Cart During Stay."

One page says unlimited golf and the other says 18 holes, so confirm which one you're getting when you call. The specials page also lists a Couples Golf package at $219 per night plus tax, based on a 3-night stay, for a 2-bedroom condo. That same block says "4 Players – 18 Holes of Golf With Cart During Stay" and "priced based on double occupancy," so confirm how many golfers the rate covers before you split it. Neither page shows a year. The only year on either page is a ©2026 copyright line in the footer.

Hot Springs Village, Arkansas

Hot Springs Village is a gated community with nine golf courses. The Reunion Resort Villas posts one package there.

  • Price: the resort's "Book A Getaway" page lists the Stay 'n' Play Diamond Package at $799. A press release dated February 22, 2026 announced it at $749. Both are prices for the whole package, which covers two people.
  • Includes: a 2-night stay for two at the Reunion Resort Villas, one round for two at the Diamante golf course, access to Diamante Country Club, a $100 Diamante dining card, and a free golf cart rental from the villas.
  • Date: the getaway page shows no dates for the offer.

The villas also offer a 4-bedroom villa that sleeps up to 12, according to an ArkansasGolf listing, but that listing posts no price. If your group is bigger than two, ask whether the Diamond Package can be booked several times for the same dates.

We left out the city of Hot Springs itself. The only Hot Springs package with a price we found, a Diamante Discovery package on GolfTrips, now shows as "no longer available or has expired."

Example totals for 4 and 8 golfers

Example only, not a quote. These multiply the posted prices by headcount. They leave out tax (unless a page says it's included), travel, food, tips, and anything else the package excludes.

Package (posted price)What that price covers4 golfers8 golfers
RTJ Fall 2 Days or More, $115 per person, per day2 days, 1 round per day, cart, no lodging$920$1,840
Treetops Golftoberfest, $330 per person, double2 nights, 3 rounds$1,320 (2 rooms)$2,640 (4 rooms)
Treetops 5-3-1, $465 per person, double (GolfMichigan listing)3 nights, 5 rounds$1,860 (2 rooms)$3,720 (4 rooms)
Chula Vista Fall Stay & Play, $100 per person1 night, 1 round$400$800
Lake Wisconsin CC, $190 per person (GolfTrips listing)1 night, 1 round, one meal$760$1,520

Branson, per condo. Example only, not a quote. Three nights × $249 = $747 per condo, before tax. One condo covers four players, so 4 golfers pay $747 (about $187 each), and 8 golfers in two condos pay $1,494, before tax. Whether that includes unlimited golf or 18 holes depends on which Thousand Hills page you believe.

Hot Springs Village, per two-person package. Example only, not a quote. At the current $799 page price, 4 golfers would need two packages ($1,598) and 8 golfers four ($3,196), for 2 nights and 1 round each. That assumes the villas will sell multiple packages for the same dates, which the page doesn't say.

RTJ stay-and-play. We didn't total these, because the Tour Guide Golf page doesn't say how many days each package bills. At the Capitol Hill rate of $195 per person, per day, one day comes to $780 for 4 golfers or $1,560 for 8. Multiply by the number of days on your quote.

If one person puts down the deposits, our golf trip expenses guide covers how to settle up afterward. The calculator handles the per-golfer split.

What these pages don't price

  • Tax, in most cases. Thousand Hills says "plus tax," and the RTJ specials exclude it. Treetops' 5-3-1 page says taxes and resort fees are included. The other pages don't say.
  • Getting there. None of these pages list airfare, rental cars, or shuttles.
  • Meals. Lake Wisconsin's Green Acres meal, Hampton Cove's breakfast, and the Reunion's $100 dining card are the only food mentioned.
  • Extra rounds. Several pages say you can add rounds or nights, but none post the add-on price.

Gear that saves money on a budget trip

If anyone in the group flies in, a golf travel case protects their clubs. Pack your own golf balls so you're not paying pro shop prices on day two. A golf rangefinder helps on courses you've never seen, like a 36-hole day at Capitol Hill. And on a 36-hole day, broken-in golf shoes matter more than usual.

The bottom line

For a cheap guys golf trip, these five destinations all post real numbers. Alabama's fall specials price golf alone, from $115 per person per day without lodging. Treetops and Chula Vista bundle lodging and golf per person, and Thousand Hills bundles them per condo. Hot Springs Village has one two-person package. Check the unit, check the dates on the page, and call the seller for your group's real total before anyone books a flight.
